Magical Midsummer Music

‘Boobs & Brass’, the acclaimed all female Brass Band, are coming to Leicester on 21st June 2014, to St. Mary’s Church, Brinsmead Road in Knighton at 7.30 pm, tickets £10 including refreshments.

This amazing group of women travel from all over the country, taking time off from their regular championship bands, to perform in their distinctive pink jackets as ‘Boobs & Brass’ for a cause close to their hearts.

They formed in 2006 for a one-off concert to raise money for research into Breast Cancer and from that one event has evolved a band of 50 women, who now perform regularly across the country, raising thousands of pounds – over £115,000 to date – for Breast Cancer Campaign

Incredibly, 8 of the women have breast cancer or have just completed treatment for it, so this is something they and the rest of the band feel passionately about.  The band has directly funded, through BCC, six university research projects, including two at Leicester University and they plan to do so much more.

If you would like to hear the band in action, tickets can be obtained from their Resident Compere, Carolyn Oldershaw, email carolyn@carago.plus.com, or the Parish Office of St. Mary’s on 0116 2702705 and further information about what they get up to and where, can be found on their website boobsandbrass.com.
