Treasure Hunt

It is back by popular demand!

A Treasure Hunt has been arranged for Thursday 8th July meeting at the Main Car Park off The Parade in Oadby starting at 6.15pm as Car parking charges finish at 6pm. It doesn't matter if people cannot be there at 6.15pm as, like the last time, Alan will be sending groups off at time intervals from that time onwards till possibly 6.45pm.

The Treasure Hunt will take place around Oadby and it is just over a mile in distance unless you get lost!

I have arranged a cold buffet afterwards at the Horse & Trumpet at Wigston which is the same venue as last year. The cold buffet I have arranged is £4.00 per person. The charge is £5 for the evening with the balance going towards the prizes.

Can you please let me know numbers as soon as possible but by the end of June so that I can give numbers to the pub. If people are just wanting to do the Treasure Hunt only if you could advise those numbers separately. The cost for the Treasure Hunt only will be £1.

My contact details are 0116 2783357 and e-mail address is rapike@ntlworld.com

Many thanks

Robert

Youth Trip to Trichy Diocese

Youth Trip to Trichy Diocese
Church of South India - February 2011

The Trichy Link was established in 2002 between Churches Together in Leicestershire and the Trichy Diocese in Tamil Nadu, South India. The Link provides an opportunity for Christians in Leicestershire to work together with each other and with Christians in India; all as part of the World Church. There have been many new insights. An enormous warmth in the relationship has developed. In 2011 young people are being offered a chance to be part of this Christian adventure.

A 12 day, ecumenical trip for a group of 12 young people (16-25years at time of travel) is planned sometime between the dates Saturday 12th Feb – Sunday 27th Feb 2011. Young people will join activities and discussion with young Indian Christians, help teach English in a variety of mission schools and visit an HIV/Aids project. Travel may include into the hills to see the vast tea estates or down to the coast which suffered greatly as a result of the 2006 tsunami. The group will be accompanied by 3 leaders who have each visited Trichy before and who have experience of running residential youth trips. Everyone will be CRB checked before travel.

The trip, costing about £600 per person, is to be self funded. However young people are encouraged to seek financial support from their church, mission partnerships, local charitable trusts and Churches Together groups. Individuals may request a small bursary from the Trichy Link group.

Please complete an application form (available from Vic Allsop) if you wish to be considered for a place on this trip. Completed forms should be sent by 1st May 2010 to Vic Allsop, County Ecumenical Development Officer, c/o 14 Church Lane, Hoby, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. LE14 3DR or via email cedo@ctil.org.uk All applications will be considered by the ecumenical Trichy Link group who will notify successful applicants accordingly.

Before completing the form if you have any questions or want to discuss the proposed trip in further detail, please contact Vic (tel 01664 434697). If he can’t help, he will direct you to someone who can.

With best wishes from

Rev Alison Roche, Rev Suresh Kumar and Mrs Anne Speight
