Southern Edge Mission Partnership

MISSION STATEMENT

The Southern Edge Mission Partnership will have Mission at the heart of all its work. However because of the rich and welcome diversity of our churches the universal support of every mission activity by every church community is impractical. Although we share a common mission it does not imply that an obligation for all partners to be involved in all aspects of the work. To ensure we all have a common understanding of our shared mission the following statement will be our agreed strategic aim:

The Southern Edge Mission Partnership is:

Churches working together for the Kingdom of God.

This simple statement should allow us to capture a glimpse of God’s vision for our Mission Partnership and allow the many people who contribute to the life of all our churches to have a shared purpose, to know what we believe, and to understand where we are heading.

It is important to remember from the outset that all this will take time. God isn’t out for short-term gain, his imparted vision will almost certainly be for the long term, and indeed the vision is likely to be open ended. Initially there may be very little to see, but what God can achieve through us in his own good time will be astonishing.

Our vision of course must be realistic. It has been said that most people overestimate what they can achieve in one year, but underestimate what they can achieve in three years!
